Old World, New Idea

Panama's people are hard workers
and  humble.  Their lives are
simple, so bringing the idea of
sterilization has been a long
journey for SPAYes.  Our
volunteers work very hard to
educate and help them
understand the long term benefits
of spaying and neutering.

The animal is weighed, and given a
paper collar with name and exact
weight.

Approximate anesthesia is given
depending on weight.

After anesthesia has set in, a vet tech
shave’s and prep’s the area.  While
another tech tattoo’s an S for
sterilized.

The animal is then brought in, and laid
onto one of the volunteer vet tables for
the spay/neuter procedure.

The animal is gently taxied out to the
POST-OP table.

The animal is then treated head to toe.
Cleaning of the ears, flea/tick medicines
applied, and a shot of antibiotics and
vitamins are then injected.  Clipping of
the right ear is done on cats at this time.

Animals are then placed on a sterile
mat waiting to wake up from anesthesia.
Patients are watched carefully and
closely  by our volunteers.  Another
dose of antibiotic cream is applied and a
vet is on hand to discharge as they
begin to wake-up.

Donate today, and help make a difference in the lives of
cats and dogs through out PANAMA.
